Wishing You A Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all you dear readers!

I absolutely love the idea of these lyrics being the first listened to in the year.  The very notion of blessing another country as the first step of the new year fills me with real joy because let’s face it, New Year is a funny old time.  Some of us stay in hoping that no one will notice if we slope off to bed at 10pm, whilst others are down at the Thames living it up London-style!  But it always comes with thoughts and contemplations for the year to come.  What will happen?  What will change?  How can we improve ourselves, our lives, our circumstances?  And with this comes a pressure to write a list of resolutions and then place a bet to see how long they will last.

I’ve never been one for resolutions and when I have ever thought about making any they’ve always involved focusing on myself, which I really don’t like.  I’ve made quite an effort recently to focus less on my self (not always successfully!) and so this year what I would like to do is promise myself to look around more.  As C S Lewis said:

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.”

Sadly I’ve observed recently that I am a much prouder person than I’d like to be so this quote reminds me to double my efforts at looking around!

I am looking forward to starting my “resolution” with you all and hope to see many more of you back here in the New Year.  I thank you all very much for your continued support of Let’s Run The Race and for your love and encouragement.

Happy New Year!
