Challenge Accepted!

Earlier on this year I wrote an article about how you can donate birth certificates to children living without one, through an NGO called CAFOD.  CAFOD stands for Catholic Agency For Overseas Development and in their own words:

“We stand beside people living in poverty – whatever their religion or culture”

http://www.cafod.org.uk

CAFOD has a large selection of world gifts that you can donate to people living in poverty all around the world, from seeds and pigs, to health centres and of course birth certificates!  There is an amazing range and each item is something that will personally benefit a family or community.

After writing my article about the birth certificates, CAFOD and I made contact and they mentioned their Lent appeal and asked if I would be interested in participating.  Never one to shy away from a challenge I obviously said yes!  So here we are and it’s now Shrove Tuesday.  My gluten free and dairy free pancake batter (honestly I’m not sure if I even want to try it) is resting alongside my husband and children’s fully loaded batter and we are excited (hmmm!) about tucking in.  Tomorrow will come and with it the start of Lent.  I honestly hope I am up to this challenge, because it’s not just about restraining myself, it’s about making time for God, walking closely with Him and listening out for His voice.  As Dallas Willard said:

“Fasting unto our Lord is therefore feasting – feasting on Him and doing His will.”

Yet even though it will be hard it will also be exciting because as the Apostle Peter said:

“He who has suffered in his body is done with sin” (1 Peter 4:1)

That would be pretty great wouldn’t it?!

So if you would like to read more about my Lent challenge then my “Lent Appeal 2018” page is where I will be posting the links to the articles I will be writing for CAFOD.  I will also be adding updates on this page about how I am getting on as well as my first ever vlogs!  And generally anything that is helping or inspiring me along the way.

The first link below is to CAFODs website where the Give It Up Challenge is laid out along with all the participants.  Please click here to find out what it is that I am giving up!
